Sony revolutionized video display with the introduction of the world’s first CRT projector, the world’s first commercial 4K projector with 4096 x 2160 resolution, the world’s first 3LCD laser projector, and the world’s first 4K ultra-short throw laser light source projector. Now in 2016, Sony will introduce two new revolutionary projectors that will expand the immersive reality viewing experience. The Sony VPL-GTZ270 and VPL-GTZ280 are 5,000 lumen large-format models that utilize the latest SXRD display technology to create high quality images with 4K resolution and super-high contrast ratio. But most notable is the new image enhancement functions including “Reality Creation” upscaling and compatibility with High Dynamic Range (HDR) content, giving users the ability to view the entire range of an image accurately and clearly for a more convincing picture. A wide color space covers the full DCI range and simulates the new ITU-R BT2020 color gamut for the most realistic picture.
Additionally, the VPL-GTZ280 offers high-speed motion functions and new high-speed 4K 120Hz signal processing capability for 4K3D 60Hz left eye/right eye and reducing blur in fast motion scenes. This is in addition to smear and transport delay reduction, infrared light output for night vision stimulation and vibration resistance.
These two projectors will soon be immersing audiences in exciting reality viewing experiences in planetariums, theme parks, retail facilities, museums and in flight simulation, visualization and training establishments. The VPL- GTZ270 and VPL- GTZ280 will be released in the 1st Quarter 2016 and 2nd Quarter 2016 respectively.
